Career Day at the Linguistic University
21.05.2011

On May 20 the Women's Resource Center participated in the "Career Day" event, organized by the students and alumni of the State Linguistic University.
State agencies, International and local organizations, diplomatic missions and businesses from Yerevan and the regions were also invited to the event. Representatives from WRCA were in charge of our informational booth and presented to the population and participants the different services and projects going on at the Women's Center; the Sexual violence assault helpline, the career corner and the sexual health and women's rights workshops. During the day informational brochures on health, contraception and other topics were distributed as well. The representatives of WRCA also informed the students and alumni the opportunity to volunteer for the Women's Center.
The Women's Resource Center helps volunteers and interns develop their skills and gain first hand work experience in a non-profit organization. This provides a strong basis for students to develop their future career in different fields.
Volunteers at the Women's Center can work in different areas:
• Teaching English or French language
• Translating articles for the website
• Working as trainers for women's rights and gender awareness
• Organizing awareness raising events and activities
• Teaching basic computer skills
• Counselling for the Hotline and Sexual Assault Center
And many other opportunities are available for women to practice their leadership skills.
The Women's Resource Center is open to all women. It is a safe space where women and girls can express their ideas freely, develop their professional skills, acquire new knowledge and engage in the Center's different projects.
